Raven's 28th Bday

I shot the first 'episode' of DBTV when we were all 16 years old way back in 1994. Highlights then included a paper ball eating competition, Tewy having a nosebleed and the Lads getting pissed at a Birmingham University Open Day.

Now, 11 years on it was the Raven's 28th Birthday. Admittedly it's not too often we all get together for a paper chit eating competition these days, but we're all still rather fond of the lash. Unfortunately meeting up for the stink isn't as simple as it once was. Chesh now lives in China, Harris lives in Switzerland, Nick spends a large amount of time in South America on the hunt and Preston may as well live on the moon for all anyone sees of him. Dave, Jam and his girlfriend Becky all made it down to London meeting up with Tew and Lyn who moved to the big smoke over a year ago. The plan was to go paintballing with Rob and Cosmo before meeting up with them, and Rachel and Nina later.

The paintball site I'd chosen was in Essex. Cue moaning Robert. Rob's journey to get there would be a number of train and tube links down from Leamington Spa. In an effort to reduce the moaning to a minimum I only revealed each part of the journey plan as he needed to know it. To keep Cosmo quiet I didn't tell him where we were driving to (until I got lost and was forced to give him the map). We all arrived at the Paintball site at midday which was right about on time, pretty amazing really considering all the moaning I'd had to endure from Cosmo who, after I'd given a sandwich in an effort to keep him happy, had then spent the rest of the journey moaning about feeling sick. Oh, and despite my careful route planning on Rob's behalf, he'd had to get off the tube due to engineering works leaving him in the middle of nowhere and meaning I had to then find him. Unfortunately this meant driving up and down a fair few windy back roads, cue Cosmo....

Before setting off for Essex I'd stopped by a shoe shop in Ealing to buy some boots. Given that it hadn't stopped raining for the last few days I imagined the ground would be quite slippy, and given that last time I'd slipped over I'd broken my nose, I thought it a wise precaution. Unfortunately, they didn't have any size 12 boots in black. Unfortunately they only had size 12 boots in fluorescent white, which more or less negated any camouflage advantage my overalls might have afforded me.
